GPS AND CLINIC

General Information

The WAMS Program Team provide Primary Health Care and opportunistic health screening to towns within the Walgett Shire and other remote locations. One of the main focuses of the Program Team is to provide health promotion activities which are implemented into the community to increase awareness on various health issues.

GPs and Clinic

WAMS have regular GPs who offer treatment and advice to the people of Walgett and surrounding districts. The Clinic Nurse and Aboriginal Health Workers provide on-going continuity of care to the clients in a friendly, yet professional manner.

Transport can be provided to clients, either locally or for specialist appointments in larger regional centres.

WAMS also provide a dispensary service which is led by the Senior Aboriginal Health Worker (SAHW) and together with other trained staff, dispense scripted medications to patients. The SAHW also manages client transport which involves maintaining WAMS vehicles and co-ordinating the Transport Officers for patient trips locally and regionally.

The Clinic is open between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. It is closed between 1 and 2 pm for lunch.

The Clinic Team and GPs can be located in the Clinic at 37 Pitt St and appointments can be made by calling (02) 6820 3777.
