Signing of new National Agreement on Closing the Gap marks historic turning point

On Thursday July 30, Pat Turner joined the Prime Minister and Minister Wyatt to announce the new National Agreement on Closing the Gap had been signed by all Australian governments, the Australian Local Government Association and the Coalition of Peaks.
The National Agreement commits the country to a new era in the relationship between governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. A relationship that is based on negotiation and shared decision-making between governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on policies and programs that impact us.
